The start at Haukeliseter is approaching. The sledge is soon to be packed, the equipment should be weighed and ski boots to be polished. What is smart to do before the race?
Of course it is wise to continue training. If you are short on snow in your garden, it is time to drag out the summer tires of the garage.
Tie the tires together and pull away.

S = SW/LS
Ohm's law is heavy shit, but it`s a piece of cake compared to Expedition Amundsen's law.
Speed = sledge weight / length of climbing skins. This law will affect your experience of the race, no doubt. Climbing skins was probably Roald Amundsen`s best friend, and you will experience their effect in the hills. The length of the skins is crucial. Short skins will provide higher speed downhill and on the flats, but less climbing power in the uphill. Long skins will provide great grip everywhere. What is the ideal length of the climbing skins in the Expedition Amundsen? We recommend short climbing skins, of course, based on Expedition Amundsen's law. S = SW/LS.

Transport
We have organized a bus possibility for all participants. Since the start and finish are at different places, it's a good idea to drive car to Garen and park it there. Wednesday 29 February at 1 PM this bus leaves Garen and heads to Haukeliseter. The bus has of course capacity for both participants, skis, poles and sledges. The bus arrives at Haukeliseter about 4 hours later. This trip costs 400 NOK. Registration for this bus-service to post@xtremeidfjord.no before Tuesday 14 February.

Equipment
Packing the sledge smart will save you a lot of frustration, put the heaviest equipment in the bottom of the sledge. A sledge that tips over constantly steals not only time but also effort. To cut the shaft of the toothbrush is an ancient Amundsen-trick, this is of course allowed and will most likely catch the photographers interest. Among the officials we have our own MacGyver, almost all adventurers are likely to find themselves in a situation where something needs to be fixed or ducked, so it is smart to add a little repair kit and of course some duct tape.

Smart tips
The Jerven shelter is obligatory for all participants. A smart tip is to use Jerven during the race. The lunch and dinner breaks are excellent to spend in the shelter. Sit on the sledge, pull the shelter over you and enjoy your meal. Even when its cold and windy outside, this will be like a sauna. Be careful not to fall asleep.
